Festival Envy

Dress: H&M // Shoes: New Look (similar) // Rucksack & Sunglasses: Primark //

Glastonbury, British Summer Time, Wireless Festival's 10th Birthday; all names of epic festivals that I didn't attend this weekend... and I gots the envies. I do have one festival planned for August but in the meantime, I thought that I'd turn my longing for a festival into some outfit inspiration.

I picked up this striped maxi dress from H&M for £15 in their sale last weekend. I'm a sucker anything midi or maxi; light, comfy and covered for my more self-conscious days! The boho style feels very festival-y and in keeping with the season. Another sale find is this Topshop necklace. I didn't purchase these with the intention to match them, but they do a good job! This and the backpack add a little retro somethin' somethin' which is always welcome in a festival outfit. I'm also finally getting the sandals out again! These chunky New Look beauts were a fave last year and I can tell they're going to be a fave again this year. They go with almost everything, although I probably wouldn't wear them to an actual festival as they wouldn't be the most practical choice of footwear!

If any of you were lucky to attend a festival this weekend, I hope you had an amazing time! I'm now even more excited for V in August!

Denim Delight

Denim Dress: Asos // Boots: River Island (similar) // Rucksack & Sunglasses: Primark // Watch: Olivia Burton

The title says it all for this post; the dress is a winner. Denim dresses have been everywhere this season and I'd been searching for one that could be worn all year round (I'm always looking for value for money as a girl on a budget!). The shirt top and skater skirt detail is really flattering and makes it that happy medium of smart/casual.

As the weather has been less than desirable the last few days, I teamed the dress with thin tights and Chelsea boots, proving already that the dress can be worn in any temperature. I popped on this rucksack for a little flash of retro - I do love a nineties accessory!

In other new, I have recently a started a new job! It's still very early days so I won't reveal too much just yet, but I'm so excited about it! It also means that I'll probably be writing a 'what I wear to work' post fairly soon (it is about time I suppose!).

What denim delights have you lined up for this season?

Sunday Stuff

The sun has actually just popped out as I write this (typical!), but generally this weekend has been a bit of a wash-out. Of course, this means I have spent most of it being a sofa dwelling sloth but in between catching up on the first episode of Hannibal (which is awesome and gory and clever and ridiculous) and popping into an Oxfordshire pub's mini beer festival (Old Rosie Rhubarb is now my new favourite tipple), I managed to snap some of my latest bits and bobs to share with you all.

I've mentioned my love for a high street perfume previously and a couple of weeks ago I couldn't resist adding to my collection of scents (mostly because this bottle is cute). This Zara perfume is a spicy and floral number so is just my type! Perfect for day or night AND £14.99 for 100ml which is a bloody bargain!

It's a little bit random to add pic'n'mix into the, um... mix, but we all need a little weekend treat now and again, don't we? During the week I tend to be as good as gold, but the Sunday blues can only be cured with sugary sweets (bad Josie). I'm also loving these similarly coloured nail varnishes; pastel shades are just so pretty!

This is also a little random to throw into this post, but I visited the Harry Potter Studios in Leavesden at the end of last month and I definitely think it's worth a mention! It's fascinating to see what went into creating the films, from the architects, to prop design, to costume makers, actors, special effects - the list is endless! I took SO many photos, but I won't bore you with any more than the few above - it's something you have to go and see in the flesh (or feathers/scales/other magical materials, hehehe).

I have been wanting to see the Alexander McQueen, Savage Beauty exhibition ever since it was announced last year and have managed to book tickets to see it at the end of July (it's crazy popular and rightly so). I could not be more excited! I've never studied fashion formally, but I love to read about its history and visit exhibitions when I can. I'm also a big fan of avant-garde works and Mr McQueen's designs certainly are just that. I was bought this book for Christmas and have only just started reading it - it is such an interesting read already.

That wraps up my post on some of my favourite things for this month. Hope you all enjoy your weeks ahead!

Stepping into Summer

Top: Zara (similar) // Skinny Jeans: Topshop // Bag: H&M (similar) // Shoes: River Island via eBay // Sunglasses: Topshop (similar) // Watch: Olivia Burton

I'm pretty sure a collective 'AWHH YEAHHH' could be heard across England this weekend as the sun finally showed its face in June! Barbecues and general chilling out filled the weekend which was very nice indeed.

I always find it a bit of a shock to the system transitioning into very warm weather, and I'm always very hesitant when exposing the (bordering on translucent) legs in more summery attire. So, with that in mind, I thought I'd take baby steps into the warmer temperature.

I'm trying now to save some pennies as I have a trip in a few weeks' time planned for Ibiza (excited is an understatement!) so I wanted to do my best at recycling this weekend. I found this pretty, flowy top from Zara hidden in my wardrobe and thought it'd be a great transition piece - I also love the fun flamingo print! I teamed it with some simple black Topshop Joni jeans and finished the outfit off with my vintage style sandals which were picked up on eBay for a steal. I like to think the big sunnies and tote bag add a bit of sophistication too (this bag literally goes everywhere with me - one of my best buys!).

It looks as though we're in for an 'up-and-down' June weather wise, but I'll be keeping optimistic and will be rummaging through my wardrobe to find other summer pieces to recycle!
