Browns and Brogues

Coat: Vintage // T-Shirt: Zara // Jeans: Topshop (similar) // Brogues: Topshop (similar) // Bag: Vintage

I've been making the most of this faux fur coat lately. It's so beautiful, I feel compelled to wear it! It's nice and toasty in this chilly weather too. I decided to team the coat with some coppery accessories for a vintage autumnal look. These brogues were bought a while ago from Topshop, so it's nice to see that brogues are back again this season. They go so well with so many outfits!

As I was having a relaxed Saturday, I popped on this cute Parisienne t-shirt to go underneath the faux fur. I'm really liking Zara's basics at the moment; they're great wardrobe staples as they can just be thrown on and still look chic! It's nice to be able to dress them up or down for maximum wearability.

Another simple outfit for another lovely and relaxed day! Autumn/winter is the best. Hope you're enjoying your weekends everyone!

Caught in the Midi

I feel like I've been living in my black skinny jeans now the cold has set in. You can't go wrong with jeans and a smart coat for a quick winter outfit! That being said, this weekend I fancied wearing something a bit more dressy.

Dress: Topshop // Jacket: River Island // Hat & Necklace: Primark // Boots: Topshop (similar)

I picked up this ethereal shirt dress in a Topshop sale a couple of years ago. I haven't had a chance to wear it much since! So I wanted to try it for a cold and casual look. I'm a big fan of midi pieces as they're perfect all year round and I especially like the vintage feel of this one. I teamed it with the leather jacket and ankle boots for a punkier feel, all topped off with my trusty fedora. I also added the statement necklace for a bit of sparkle.

Just a short and simple post today; however, I have been a bit naughty lately and bought a few new pieces that I can't wait to show off in my next posts! I just hope the weather's a bit dryer soon so I can take some better photos!

Until next time :)

A Little Bit Country

So, I finally got round to doing a bit of Christmas shopping yesterday. I say finally like Christmas day is only a week away, but it feels like everyone's so organised! Ben and I had a lovely day strolling round Oxford browsing the shops, topped off with a visit to The New Theatre to watch Shrek the Musical, which was fab! After such a packed Saturday, a lazy Sunday was in order.

Faux Fur Coat: Vintage // Shirt: Zara // Jeans: Topshop // Boots: Topshop (similar)

A little walk around the lake with Ben's lovely boxer dog, George, was a nice way to round off the weekend. I thought I'd try and dress accordingly, trying out my new check shirt from Zara. The beige and copper tones are the perfect colours for autumn/winter and I can't resist a smart collar! I bought a few other basic Zara tops for under £26 which is amazing considering they're such good quality. I think I overlook Zara too often, heading straight for Topshop normally! But they have some gorgeous pieces in at the moment, I'll definitely be visiting more often!

I teamed the checks with the faux fur, channeling my inner country girl. The air is becoming more and more chilly, so the faux fur coat was nice and toasty on our winter walk. Fur is such a big trend this season, so it's great that some pieces can be worn so easily every day (and even for a bit of dog walking!).

My beloved Topshop ankle boots were the best choice of footwear. They are SOOO comfy and I've had them a while so I didn't mind getting them a little muddy. I'm still on the hunt for my next pair of flat winter ankle boots, but these will always be my faves!

I'll round this post off with a couple of photos from our walk today. How cute is George!? Such a well behaved pooch, even when I made him pose with me! I'd also like to give a little mention to Ben. He's always on hand to take my outfit photos which I really appreciate! He's a star :)

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and enjoy the week ahead!

Tickled Pink

As you know, I'm a big fan of bright colours. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was championing retro florals for autumn. I'm loving the autmunal tones on the high street, but I still like to go bold now and again!

Jacket: H&M // Top: Topshop // Jeans: Topshop // Shoes: Topshop // Necklace: Topshop

This gorgeous H&M jacket featured in my second post on this blog! Since then, the weather became warmer and I forgot all about it. I found it in the wardrobe over the weekend and had to bring it out again. Styling the bright pink colour was actually harder than I thought it would be! But I think it works with the grey high neck and statement necklace.

I love this grey high neck crop top. Topshop have them in a range of colours and they're so useful for popping under jackets or jumpers. They can also be worn on their own and I've jazzed this one up with this beautiful mermaid-esque necklace which was picked up for £8 (reduced from £20!) in the Topshop sale a couple of days ago. This particular one isn't online, but a search on their website or in store is definitely worth it! They always have some gorgeous pieces for a steal.

These chunky, multi-strap shoes were another recent sale find. I love the punky style; they will look great over tights as well as with jeans and trousers so will last through winter.

As I didn't get to wear this jacket  much when I first bought it earlier this year, it was great to be able to make use of it today. The bright pink is such a beautiful colour - I'll be thinking about how I can style it differently in future for maximum value!

It was another perfect winter day today - cold and crisp with lots of sunshine. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, and hope you like my bright coat to accompany the weather too!

Favourite Winter Accessories

How cold has it been this week?! We had an almost hot Halloween and then two days later, the temperature is dropping to near zero degrees. Oh England, you never disappoint. It's time to get out the proper winter gear, and I thought I'd share my must have accessories for the coming months.

Necklace: H&M (similar) // Coat: Vintage // Bag: H&M // Hat, Scarf & Gloves: Primark

A statement necklace is a must for me. I love experimenting with jewellery and have been partial to the simpler styles lately. However, a statement necklace added to all those warm, winter layers just adds that something extra. I love the icy blues and purples finished with the gold detailing in this particular necklace. A bit of sparkle is very fitting with the Christmas season just around the corner!

Fur is BIG this season and it is everywhere! This faux fur coat was kindly handed down to me from my Nana and luckily is a perfect fit! Lovely and warm and fabulously glam. The faux fur bag was bought in an H&M sale last year (I wore it here!). It was a great find; I'm so pleased fur is such a big trend this season as I'll definitely get my use out of it. I've got my eye on a few more fur pieces - Asos especially have an amazing range right now in all kinds of colours and categories.

I have loved this fedora ever since it was bought in the summer for festival season. It has already been a big part of my transitional wardrobe and will remain a top accessory through the colder months. I wore it a couple of weeks ago and even though it was a lot less cold then, I was still surprised at how well it kept my head warm! Sensible and stylish - perfect! I bought this a few months ago, but the same or similar are still in the stores now.

Leather style gloves are another elegant accessory which keep your hands nice and toasty. I've wanted a pair for ages, so at £8, I couldn't resist them! The dogtooth scarf is also a bargain Primark find (of course!). It's a smart, monochrome print so will go with lots of outfits.

I'm still very much experimenting with my DSLR and this is my first proper attempt at styling, composing and focusing my photos for a more polished look. Definitely still a work in progress! I'm reading lots and taking note of simple tutorials so hopefully there'll be improvements as I go! It's been lots of fun to work with in the meantime.

So there you have it, my winter essentials! What are your essential winter accessories?
