Party Attire

On Saturday, I went to a lovely engagement party for one of my favourite couples. It was held at a cute little pub in Oxfordshire and was an all day event complete with a hog roast and a little disco towards the end of the night.

The weather has been pretty awful this week, but Saturday was in-between; a little cloud to start, with the sun peeking through, whilst rain was clearly on the cards. Even though it was a party, an all day event with the weather looking as it did required an outfit that was a little practical at least.

Top: Asos // Blazer: H&M // Jeans: Topshop // Shoes: Topshop // Necklace: River Island // Rings: Pandora

With it technically being Spring, I just had to wear something bright and floral despite the temperamental weather. This pretty Asos shirt is something that I would describe as being 'very me'. I love the tropical floral print and it was a perfect item for a smart casual event.

I've also been waiting for an opportunity to get my white blazer out again. I bought this one last year to go with a dress when I went to Ascot (I'm wearing it in my current 'About Me' pic!). They seem to be quite popular again this year and I thought it would smarten this outfit up without looking too 'worky'.

As you can probably tell by now, I'm a bit of a Topshop jeans addict. They just fit so well! And you can't go wrong with a pair of black high waisted Jonis.

Luckily, the weather held out for the most part and we were able to enjoy a few drinks and the hog roast in the pub garden! When the rain did start to pour, we were able to sit in the function room at the back of the pub which was lovely and cosy. All in all, it was a wonderful engagement party and I couldn't be happier for the married couple to be!

Here is a photo of myself with my boyfriend (left) and the newly engaged couple at the party. I apologise for the grainy photos! Trying to get decent ones on a phone can be tricky as I'm sure many of you find. I did however buy a DSLR this week with my birthday funds which should improve the quality of the photos I post! It's a pretty basic model, but complicated enough for me to take time to get to grips with it properly before I show you my photography. I'm aiming to get some clearer 'ootd' pics before my next post!

Going Gingham

It is my 23rd birthday today! So I've had a weekend full of celebration (I'm very lucky indeed).

On Friday, my lovely boyfriend took me to La Tasca in Newbury. I LOVE tapas. I always find it hard to decide what to have, so having little dishes of a few things is perfect for me! It was my first time at La Tasca and I would thoroughly recommend it. The food was fab!

Anyway, on to the outfit. I wanted to wear something Summery and smart for the occasion.

Top: H&M // Jeans: Topshop // Shoes & Necklace: Primark

I love the gingham print and have bought a few items in it recently. These Topshop jeans seem to be a bit of a fave among my friends and I've spotted them on a few blogs too. I can see why they're so popular; perfect for print lovers but also subtle enough for those who may be a bit wary of patterned trousers normally.

With the weather being so sunny, I decided to add a bit of colour to the monochrome ensemble with these orange midis from Primark. I do like to add a splash of colour if I can! These particular midis were bought last Summer but I've seen very similar ones in Primark recently (and they are at a bargain price too of course!). I rounded off the outfit with a bright purple nail varnish; I really like how it looks against the orange.

I did plan on also showing you my 'outfit of the night' from Saturday, but in typical style, the shorts I ordered online especially for my birthday, were too big. I threw on something from the wardrobe after a panic and hoped for the best (I'm a bit disorganised as you may be able to tell). The shorts however, are gorgeous. I can't wait to exchange them and wear them on the next special occasion.

As I said earlier, I have a few other gingham pieces and I'm hoping to show you all some of them in the next few weeks. I hope you like my take on the gingham jeans this week! I also hope you've all had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine - let's hope it stays!

The Art of Recycling

On Friday, I made my biggest purchase yet... a brand new car! I've had my license for five and half years now but I started my driving life by sharing my Mum's Peugeot 307. I then went to university and didn't drive again until I graduated. Since then, I've been driving my boyfriend's car every now and again.

When I graduated last summer, I made it a goal to start properly driving again and, although my car is a big purchase, I still found a good deal on a car I love and, more importantly, a car that is reliable and will last me a good few years!

So here it is! My brand new Ford KA Zetec. I am in love! But as in love as I am, the deposit has set me back financially this month... So what does a fashion obsessed, shopaholic do when her finances are low? RECYCLE.

I must admit, I am terrible sometimes for wearing things once and shoving it to the back of the wardrobe, and sometimes it takes me ages to figure out what to wear if I don't have something new lined up. Some people can chuck on anything and look amazing (I'm very jealous of these people!) but I sometimes need a bit more time and effort when choosing the day's ensemble.

Last year, I started collecting images to inspire me when I was stuck for outfits to wear in an attempt to stop me from spending so much and start utlising what I already had. It's a bit geeky, but I can't deny I love a collage!

All photos have been sourced from a number of fashion and celebrity magazines. Particular credit goes to Look Magazine and the free Asos and H&M Magazines

So, as I had to recycle this weekend, I thought I'd also go for a revamped trend - nineties inspired (and Fresh Prince-esque!). Although my outfit below isn't an exact replica of one in my scrapbook, a flick through the images helped me to think about how to style an old piece of clothing a bit differently.

Shirt: Forever 21 // Necklace: H&M // Jeans: Topshop

I thought I'd go for something bright and fun to go with the lovely weather we've been having. Everything I'm wearing was bought last year, but similar items still seem to be available now. Short sleeve patterned shirts are fairly easy to come by and the Topshop jeans are very similar to what is available now; 'Joni' jeans are a brilliant wardrobe staple.

So, next time you have a 'I have nothing to wear!!' moment, have a little look through that magazine on the coffee table, and see if you become inspired to recycle something you'd almost forgotten about!

I'll leave you with a cheeky car selfie (wearing my favourite Portobello market sunnies). I hope you've all had a lovely bank holiday and have enjoyed the sunshine!
